Education Series #2: This is what the students think of so-called "school reform" [Includes a review of Creatively Maladjusted from Matthew Fox]

I’ve been saying for a while that our schools need to be places where our kids can explore their world and discover who they are; where their emotions and their bodies are honored as much as their minds; where nature and creativity are an integral part of the curriculum. This is the mission of  The Chicago Wisdom Project as described in the forthcoming book Creatively…

Martin Luther’s famous response, coupled with a radical change in the way information was spread by the printing press, changed Western culture irrevocably. The Supreme Court, arguably the Western world’s most powerful institution today, has again allowed the purchasing of sins. We call the mechanism of this purchase “the…

Education Series #1: From Bill Ayers: A Letter to the President

Posted on November 30, 2012 at 1:10am 0 Comments

In anticipation of my forthcoming book, Creatively Maladjusted, I am beginning a blog series on education. To begin, here is a quote from Bill Ayers, who is writing the forward to the book, on so-called “education reform”:

I'm curious re: the Yell Awe project - do you have any plans for bringing it to the NC area.  I have two son's in Law Enforcement - one teaches @ Police Academy in Charlotte after years as a street cop and has been involved in teaching, competing in, and referring  martial arts / self defense since he was 12 (he's now 35 yo) - he's studied extensively Tang Soo Do, Judeo, Akaiedo, BJJ to name a few.  The other son also has a martial arts back ground, former paramedic & chief of rescue squad, now a detective here in Asheville area...I would so love to see the Yell Awe project come south.  They are two resources you may tap if it does.  My husband and I also teach Tai Chi for Arthritis...more resources.
