Profile Information

How did you come to discover Creation Spirituality?
I began taking courses with Matthew Fox in 1994 and graduated with my Doctor of Ministry in 2006 from the University of Creation Spirituality. My intention in pursuing this work was to integrate it into the work I do as a healthcare administrator but the richness of the teachings and the passions of fellow students fostered many other creative endeavors including developing Creation Spirituality Communities, Inc. and “One River” a CS community in Colorado where I reside.

I’ll expand on my profile a bit as this website is my home and where I direct others to learn about CS and my work which also includes serving as a spiritual director.

My work-life:
A family and individual therapist for a decade followed by a decade as an administrator/executive director of psychiatric treatment programs, I now work as a consultant through my business: Wholehearted Inc., Support for Mind, Body and Spiritual Wellness. I support my husband’s WholeBody Psychiatry practice, am a founding partner of the Eating Recovery Center in Denver, CO. I serve as president of Creation Spirituality Communities, Inc. and I work with a few people providing Spiritual Direction in the Denver/Boulder region.

My Passions:
A marriage of Buddhism and Creation Spirituality/Western Mystical Christianity in real life with my Buddhist husband – the rubber hits the road in practicing spirituality in relationship! The creative process – from art making to business making, allowing new images and healing opportunities to emerge (the via creativa). I have recently gotten a passion for art-quilting and appreciate the time lost to piecing fabric together. I also get pleasure from time with family and friends (two-legged or four-legged) just hanging out and being silly.

I really appreciate everyone’s presence on CS.info. It is great to feel a part of the web and to see/hear what folks are doing/thinking/being around the globe. I have a strong feeling about the need for CS communities… interfaith gatherings that deepen our connections to one another and the planet; places of creativity that offer peace and transformation.

CSC Event Will Be Shaped By All Who Attend

Creation Spirituality Communities Event
Will Be Shaped By All Who Attend

This year marks the third annual international Event hosted by Creation Spirituality Communities. Why is it an event? It is an event, not a conference and not a workshop, because it is an unfolding experience that clearly and purposefully reflects the participants. Otherwise, it is what each of us creates together.

Creation Spirituality Communities is a volunteer organization established under the non-profit status… Continue

Guest Opinion: Boulder Daily Camera

Inspired by so many individuals (and the contributions of our community!!), I offered this article to the local paper: http://www.dailycamera.com/news/2009/may/10/beauty-unexpected/ The paper created the title, "Beauty, Unexpected"

Illumined by Immensity

Illumined by Immensity

Walking upward on the mountain
I stretch my arms out wide
Drinking in the beauty,
Drinking in the immensity
Seeing all that lies beyond my finger tips
I leave myself behind and climb
My heart pumps vigorously
I breathe deeply
Slowly, the transformation happens
I become part of my lover
I become part of the mountain
I drink in and easily hold all that there is
All that exists is this one juicy moment
And I roll around and play in it.

The next day
I realize… Continue

The Language of Love

What If

What if we could create a whole new language?
The language of love
But let’s not call it a language of love
Because that language has already been created
And already dismantled
Man has used that language for his own benefit
Building empires and cathedrals
Conquering friends and enemies.

It has become a language of projection –
Everyone with his or her own agenda
Their own restrictions
Their artificial boundaries
Built from years of self righteousness and
Certainty.
Certain of t… Continue

Hi Susan,
Thanks for welcoming me to community back in June. Busy summer, with three week trip to France, helping organize activities for 13 year-olds, working, and farming in Vermont. First time I have had a chance to look around on this site and I just read and really liked your article about creation spirituality communities. I think that is what we are starting at Peace Lake in NH with Calen Rayne and other friends. I started my D.Min. in 2003 with UCS and just finished this year. Thanks for your work! Theresa

Hi Susan! Good to hear from you. I"m doing ok in the aftermath of our loss of our son. This is going to take a while to come through. Sounds like the CS event was all you hoped it would be. Congratulations! Hope to catch up with you sometime soon. All the best, John

Susan,
We're getting so close to having all our Creation Spirituality friends from all over the world come together in Asheville. We are all looking forward to it so much. Warren told me you are the one to contact about a question I have. I am a producer and do a lot of camera work and editing for the public access television station here in Asheville, URTV. I would like to film some of the conference to run on TV. Then it would also be to have for the future - possibly for the organization to use on the website or for reproduction and selling. Can we discuss this possibility this week (I have to arrange for the use equipment before the conference). Could you call or e-mail me at (828) 280-1091 or lsiegall@yahoo.com. Thanks,
Linda

Susan-

So great to read your story. I'm especially interested to hear more about how your intention "in pursuing this work was to integrate it into the work I do as a healthcare administrator" worked out in that context of your work. I notice that it appears you have moved on from that position to one, it appears, of your own creation. I'm still wondering if you might look back to those days and share some of your experience and insight.

I'm brand new to the community and still riding the waves of inspiration I received from listening to Matthew Fox's "Radical Prayer" and what he said about our work in the world.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Blessings, Helen

Shalom Susan! I know these birds and creek. It's feeling like home. I am organizing a drum circle on afternoon Sept. 26 09 in Brome Village Fairground during the Environmental and Green Building Fair. The theme is Healing the Earth. We ask people to bring a drum or percussion.
