Study group that meets weekly to discuss the implications of Creation Spirituality on the book of Revelation--the Apocalypse--for the months of August and September.
How did you come to discover Creation Spirituality?
I first heard about Creation Spirituality in 1988 when I heard Matt Fox speak at a conference at the School of Theology at Claremont in Southern California. The Coming of the Cosmic Christ had just come out. After hearing Matt and reading the book, I was sold. There was finally a form of Christianity I could live with.
Rick, just a quick note to say that I am hoping to attend the June 2010 gathering. I really want to hear Matt Fox and see you again. I'm hoping the friend who led me to this site will come, too. Greetings to your wife and kids (grown-up, I'm sure.) Mary Ellen Latela
Rick, I teach for the Philosopher and Religious Studies Dept. of Sacred Heart University (CT) and pt for a couple other schools - all online! My latest book is Breaking the Boxes, about the deconstruction of organized religion and some info about myself. I back to the midwest to be near family. Peace! Mary
Hi Rick!
I am happy to connect with tis wonderful community of CS, and to meet you.
I am interested in how your excitement about finding a Christianity you can live with translates into community. Are you part of any local small groups, or do you bring your spirituality into a group that is already organized ?
Do you see any intersections with the Christianity that you can't live with that may bridge these differences?
I would love to hear about your "journey".
Peace
Wendy
Hi Rick, Thanks for the welcome. It feels good to be connected to this community and I look forward to getting to know you. I am in Sale Creek, TN just 35 miles north of Chattanooga. Its a small rural community and I live here with my family of people, dogs, horses, and sometimes chickens if they are not eaten by the dogs or anything else that comes along.
It is good to hear about churches that are explore deeper spirituality even if in a smaller group. I have not been so lucky in my choices of churches and am currently looking for a church preferably one that is not scared of creation spirituality. blessings
I read that you are also a minster at a Congregational Church, I spent the last 8 years at two different churches. How does your congregation respond to the Spiritual creation thought?
Hi Rick, Pleased to greet you! Thanks for the blessings and I'm sending them back out to you, too. I met Leah at an event that in a few words I can only describe as an evolutionary event for my consciousness. I had always been curious but skeptical towards our spiritual reality up until recently. It was even during a conversation with Leah that I literally broke free of the last bondage of doubt - a special event to be sure. What followed that was truly enlightening. Responding to your comment, I've always liked my name, but only thought it somewhat appropriate after I learned in an astronomy class that it actually aligns with the Sun and the Earth on my Birthday (Dec. 24), pretty cool stuff. Thanks and praises, Orion
Hi Rick, I am glad you have joined me in the discussion of this community. I think that the members in this community will be able to represent the general ideas of creation sprituality well.
What I want to do is put together a more detailed proposal on what this community can accomplish with respect to thinking about how Aboriginal people can aritculate and own their own theology and how that theology can be in conversation with the Christian message...
Tough order I know, but if not us who, if not now ...when...
