A few events have converged to remind me of this principle. An ongoing presentation at church on the complex history and development of conflict in the Middle East struck me as an example of the illusion that people own the earth, and may take charge of who lives where, of marking boundaries, of ruling from afar, of treating God’s other kids like pawns in a chess game.

My initial response is that when a person works too hard and too long and too passionately, and deals with sadness and a sense of futility, exhaustion sets in.

That said, isn't it kind of tiring to hear folks trying to argue whether or not to "include" gays and lesbians? As usual, a head game is played instead of an opening of the heart.
