Welcome to this Gathering Place, Mary. Your new project sounds interesting and I look forward to hearing more about it in due course.
Blessings,
Marian
Interesting, Ian. and corroborative of what we know from psychology about the seductive and corruptive nature of power in any social context, not just politics.
It is also a great illustration of the power of what Vadim Zeland, (the Russian author o…
Yes, I agree with Derek. 'Shameless self-promotion' is what you need to do. And there is heaps of advice out there on the Internet about how to do it - and without costing a fortune, too.
It's great that you're getting a website. They are essential…
How did you come to discover Creation Spirituality?
I saw the phrase on a leaflet in 1987 when I was doing postgraduate work at CIIS in San Francisco. Assuming it was to do with creationism, I ignored the leaflet.
Four years later, when I was living in Melbourne, Australia, I was invited by a friend to the inaugural meeting of a new organization called Climbing River Foundation - formed to promulgate CS ideas in Australia. It was only then that I realized what CS really was.
Now I live in England and I am an active member of the GreenSpirit organization there.
I am currently editing a new book on green spirituality, which will be published late this year or early 2010.
About Me ...
I am an author, a writer and editor/co-editor of several publications I care deeply about green spirituality, simple living and the vital role of elders in healing the damage humans have done to our lovely Earth.
Plato said "every man, before he dies, should do four things: father a son, build a house, write a book, and plant a tree”. He didn't say what he thought a woman should do. (Just as well, probably). But I am happy that I've built a house, written books, birthed two children and planted hundreds of trees. I feel very fulfilled now.
I come from Plymouth in SW England, from whence the Mayflower sailed. (Though I am told she actually started her voyage in Southampton). I've spent most of my 72+ years living elsewhere (Australia and the US), and being a whole range of things including a psychologist, psychotherapist, writer, author and editor. I have two daughters, two stepsons, a selection of grandchildren and step-grandchildren, all spread around the USA from coast to coast. I circled home to my roots after retirement and now live in Devon again, this time in a village.
I live in a tiny cottage (350 square feet total living space) with my second husband and soul-mate, Sky. Here's a picture of us...
Our cottage is at the edge of a village, down a little lane that's just ten feet wide. Nice and peaceful and not much traffic. We love the country life, and the ability to grow some of our own food.
I am the author of several books. Two of those are about women and the ageing process. The first, which was published in 1991 by Bergin & Garvey, is called Transformation through Menopause and the second is ELDERWOMAN: Reap the wisdom, feel the power, embrace the joy (Findhorn Press, 2002). My third book The Lilypad List: 7 steps to the simple life, (Findhorn Press, 2004) is a primer for anyone interested in simplifying and downshifting .At the moment, I am editing a book called GreenSpirit: Path to a new consciousness, which is to be published by O-Books in late 2009 or early 2010.
I have a website , a newsletter and a social networking site like this one that’s especially for Elderwomen. And I also edit a newsletter and maintain a website for the Wholesome Food Association (that's Sky's pet project) and am co-editor of The GreenSpirit Journal. I love my life.
My email is letterstogc@hotmail.com.
Thank you, Elaine

Hi Marian
Can you please email me again as I have lost your email address. I am on leave soon and heading for solitude on Kangaroo Island for a week to write, walk and swim ... I am so in need of replenishment. I will begin to draft an article for the journal and email it to you when I return home. Thats in October.
Hope all fares well
Mary
Hello Marian!
I just had a look at your home page. Wow! I wish I lived closer to you so I could learn more from you over a cup of tea. Sounds like your life has circled around many lovely places and people, leaving little patches greener and happier than before. I look forward to reading some of your books. I love the quote about Plato's advice on how to be a man, all things I hope to do as a woman, I have yet to build a house. Matt built our house while I was pregnant, I hammered a few nails, but not too much. I am looking into building myself a little retreat hut, on the other side of our dam, someday.
Sounds like you built your cottage, is it mudbrick? Sounds peaceful. I am inspired by the responsibility you have taken as an elder, certainly something we should aspire to do, and something society needs. You end your home page saying "I love my life!" Thank you for sharing your joy.
Hi Marian,
How wonderful to meet you! I have just visited your webpage as well as GreenSpirit and am so looking forward to delving into the resources you offer on both women elders and green spirituality. What a blessing you are...
Hi Marian - What a wonderful page - it is a joy to read about you and the work you are doing. I have found memories of Devon. Matt Fox taught at Schumacher college in the early 90's and I spent nearly three weeks there and then traveled a bit around England and Ireland. It is truely amongst my finest memories. The community was so warm and embracing.
I look forward to hearing more from you,
Susan
That's fine, Marian. Hope you get it worked out. I haven't tried to upload a document myself. I'll try it in the morning when I'm more awake. I look forward to reading your contribution/s.
