This was a bit harsh and not sensitive and compassionate. I beg forgiveness.

It is remarkable to read these posts, and see no one point out that Matthew Fox is not "defrocked." People who should know better seem to admit the false charge! "Good people get fired every day" is a rather weak rejoinder. He was dismissed from the…

This was the Eckhart class. My friend, Jo Ann, was visiting from Canada. I see Matt, Paula Artac, John Powell, Susan Coppage Evans, Rosie Bishop, Jo and Ron delBane. GREAT TIMES in an ASTOUNDING place! We were privileged.

How about that Governor!? Of course, there's joke material sticking out all over this one. He took a hike, then went to tango... :)

How did you come to discover Creation Spirituality?
Meeting Matt Fox at a conference in 1991 (International
Transpersonal Association), reading his _Sheer Joy_ and other works, e.g., _The Cosmic Christ_, enrolling at UCS and graduating with a DMin in 2005, the last year for degrees designated UCS.

A Cautionary Note Re the Asheville Conference in July

I'm looking forward to it, and have family in Asheville and Brevard, am excited about the topics, the
Cosmic Mass, etc.

One thing participants should be aware of is that the Jubilee Community
is on Wall St, indowntown Asheville, and the parking is very difficult.
Not to rain on anyone's parade, but just search
"Asheville parking" when you have the time,
or choose a walking distance hotel.

You would have LOVED the gathering in Asheville. It was so nourishing, challenging and full of joy. Maybe next year?

Yeah, I've got most of Spong's books too, have been to a few of his lectures in the area. I once reminded Spong that, unlike Episcopal clergy, ELCA guys are at the mercy of the local congregation for employment! That leaves a lot more room for Spong and kin to criticize who are not worried about eating from the crumbs of the congregational table as it were! As to pic, I love the vibe and nature of northern California. If money were no option, I'd live there in a NY minute!

I am currently a pastor in a Lutheran (ELCA) church. I feel stuck with what I regard as dead theology (atonement, trinity, catechism, etc) that, in my opinion, has little to do with being human (although I am aware of various attempts to give them new meaning in a post modern world). Frankly, I feel Christianity at large is (to quote Spong) probably over due for a death and burial! Biblical extremism and biblical literalism are my worst suffocating enemies.

I see yu got DMin at UCS. I was wondering how I could possibly get info. I have e-mailed UCS directly a few months back but have received no reply. I feel very stuck in the Christian institution and am desperate to find another way to be and work!

Ha ha! yes, Pat use to live here...I guess. I actually grew up in south burb of Kansas City called Ruskin Heights (or Hickman Mills). I moved to Lees Summit in 1999 to begin a CPE program and to be closer to my mother who was struggling both with her own health and that of my step-father. I currently serve a very small Lutheran church in Blue Springs, Missouri (home of David Cook fame) just east of Lee's Summit.

Hello John. Terrific to see you here. I look forward to hearing (reading) your voice as I've been blessed to do on the dmin list in the past.

Welcome,
