How did you come to discover Creation Spirituality?
I was raised in a liberal Catholic tradition and will always be grateful for the years spent singing the mass in Latin. The great artists and writers became my guides through the turbulence of youth--they were proof to me that there was a way. I began writing, drawing and painting when I was young and have continued to this day. My experiences could only be described as mystic. I continued reading in all religions and learned Buddhist practices, Taoism, and native ways. When I encountered the writings of Matthew Fox, I felt that I had found a home .
How would you briefly describe your spirituality? (Be creative! Don't worry if it only seems to make sense to you - we love the diverse and the hard-to-explain!)
embracing and nourishing creation
What is your first language?

A seaside hotel in season,

walls frescoed in summer dusk,

rose petal and shortbread.

A woman climbs the crumbling bluff,

sandstone giving where it should hold,

holding where it could have caved.

Hazardous here where bluffs

are carved by salt breakers,

losing a bit of themselves each day--

what we must give to live by the sea.

Thanks for the be-friending.  :-)  I love your photos, as well -- both your photography and your works of art are beautiful and inspiring.  We appear to have a lot in common -- I am also a mixed-media collage artist!  (I'll have to put up some pictures of my work, too.)

I made this picture and other ones after viewing a wall in a Cathedral in Italy--St. Maria's in Florence where I was able to study Italian, speak it, as well as see some of the greatest art in the world.  On the right wall beside the altar was the Cycle of St. Anne painted by Ghirlandaio. At the time painters used young boys as models for women; many of the women in this painting wore veils.  I thought about this for a while and wrote a meditation about taking off our veils and our vulnerability in taking off our veils.  So, I painted the women whom I saw and took off their veils.  I have been wanting to make this into a small book for years and perhaps will in the next year. Thanks for your thoughts.  I appreciate them.

Seems we are cut from similar cloth, Jackie. I, too, relish the peace and beauty of my rural surroundings and it is wonderful to be able to stay connected with like-minded people all over the world at the same time. The Internet is a boon to introverts and HSPs who love to make meaningful contact with others of their species yet also have a deep need for lots of peace and quiet.

Oh yes, I see now. You're way up there - almost to the border. That is such a beautiful part of the world. The one and only time I've ever seen a mountain lion in the wild was an hour or so south of where you are, in Castle Crags State Park. It was a moment I have never forgotten.

I do long for wilderness sometimes.

Hello Jackie, and thanks for 'friending' me.

Seems like you live near the sea. Me too, though not right on the edge. It is a two and a half mile walk from here to the beach. But when the wind comes from the west I can smell the ocean and sometimes even hear it. I wouldn't want to live any further inland.
