Oh Bill. As a fellow Mainer, I'm heart broken.
yesterday
Hi Wayne, I know your comment wasn't directed to me, but remember that I have been there. The church I helped to transform into a CS community in Maine has disappeared because there wasn't leadership to help it continue. A traditional Christian pa...

Thank you, Tom. I know your wisdom here, even though today it is hard for me to hear. I have been out for sixteen years--what feels like a lifetime for me. To speak of ten or twenty years is challenging. I, too, believe we will get there. In the i...

How did you come to discover Creation Spirituality?
I have been a bit out of the box spiritually for all of my life. Around the turn of the century, a number of dear friends pointed me toward the work of Matt Fox, which led to more exploration of wisdom traditions.
What is your first language?
English

Oh yes, and my wonderful family....

Just to make a connection for those who don't know. Rich Rossiter is my husband. We were joyfully married in the great nation of Canada in April of 2004, and this year of 2009 we celebrate five years of marriage while we await more of our own country's recognition. Between us, we have five fabulous young adult children. We are Continually Blessed.

The Maine Vote: An Obituary for Fairness

The result of November 3rd’s Maine vote on supporting an effort to provide marriage rights to same gender couples wounds me deeply. As a Mainer, I had high hopes that the people who taught me the values by which I live would live into those values. Sadly, corporate politics, fear, and hate-mongering have won out over fairness.

That deeply saddens me from many places.

The first is the simple, painful reminder that patriarchy has not yet died.

In the midst of this debate, the Roman Catholic Chu… Continue

Carbon Offsets and the 2010 CSC Conference

Recently I volunteered to complete an assignment as part of my role in the planning team for the 2010 Creation Spirituality Communities conference, to be held in Burlingame, CA. My task was to try to determine what things, if any, folks could do locally to offset the carbon dioxide that will be released into the atmosphere as part of their travel (or other impacts on their overall carbon footprint.) Carbon dioxide and other gasses that are released into the atmosphere in increasing quantities ar… Continue

The check is still in the mail

It was with real disappointment that I learned this morning that President Barack Obama has once again made only promises to the queer community about equality. He spoke last evening at a gala event for the Human Rights Campaign in Washington, DC, and many, including myself, feel he missed a wonderful opportunity.

This weekend marks the HRC gala, National Coming Out Day, and a march on Washington for equal rights for America's sexually diverse, second-class citizens. Many of us had hoped that P… Continue

It is that gender thing again...

I have been watching the news story about South Africa's new 800-metre world champion Caster Semenya this week. I confess that it has been with some dismay and disappointment. Semenya, you may recall, has had her gender challenged by authorities in the IAAF in a most public way. She has been subjected to examinations and tests designed to determine whether or not they consider her to be as she presents herself, a female.

I recently received feedback from someone I trust that in my writing much… Continue

The Wound of My Ordination

7/28/09

A recent discussion has emerged in a small group called “Recovering Pastors” to which I belong on the larger Creation Spirituality Communities website. The group is designed to create dialogue between and among persons who have been pastors or have served in the role of pastoral leadership, and who are now reconsidering all that might mean as they either serve or move apart from serving local churches. Primarily, the discussion seems to be among those of us serving or having served Chri… Continue

You made my day. I have written a healing handbook (co-authroed with a friend), and now I am trying to figure out how to make my UCS/D.Min. thesis into a book. I don't know whether to leave in all the stuff about me; it informs the thesis of four paths related to my work in hospice: Awe- I see you; then I hear you - pain, loss, all of it!; I respect you - the way you have created a life; I honor you - the ways you have been compassionate, a justice maker, a being with a heart. So, maybe I will join the writers group. Advice welcome.

Hi Bill,
I am pleased to be your friend and hope to be with you in person sometime. Yes, once a Mainer, always connected. I'm originally from Wisconsin and feel a deep kinship with Lake Michigan.
I spent some wonderful days in Bass Harbor this summer. It was a real treat to wake up to the putter of lobster boats heading out before dawn. So many sights, sounds and smells that are true to Maine.
Sorry to read of your father's death, but glad for him that it was not prolonged. I work in a continuing care retirement community; currently mourning a woman named Lucy who would have been 97 in a few days. She had a great deal of warmth to her and hospitality was deeply embedded in her nature.
I lost both of my parents in the late 90s, two years apart. I feel they have left, but the essence of them continues in my mind and heart. I think of them every day. And things that were once troublesome to me as a critical child have left long ago and I see their true nature and the gifts they gave me. I live with gratitude.
Blessings and peace to you as you continue to remember. Lucy

Hi Bill
How absolutely wonderful to hear from you!!!!! Do you ever come to Maine to visit? If so, I'd love to meet you. I've been trying very hard to find or create a group that is creation spirituality centered here in Maine but haven't had any real luck yet. I'm definitely not giving up. The interfaith chaplaincy institute offers occasional creation centered topics which I participate in whenever I can. What's going on there in Chicago?

Hi Sweetheart! Now nice to have a few hours to really look over this web site. The luxury of a few days away from work ... and to write the man I love.

So know on this Wednesday morning, in Grand Rapids, Michigan -- I share with you again how much I love you! And thank you for joining me as we hug beautiful friends again.
