Comment by Bob Werme on October 24, 2012 at 12:14pm Tomorrow at Cirque d'Esprit, we will revisit ways in which our lives are works of art. This touches on the matter of to what degree we are products of cosmogenesis, heredity, culture, individual will, and the personal relationships in our lives. When we affirm a pantheistic understanding of theos, all these agents are shaping us in important ways. We are being shaped ... and we are agents of our shaping. Theos is at work in each of these "shaping tools". Thus, the excavation, revelation and articulation of our personal stories is critical as we seek our identity as "masterpiece". We affirm our status as works of art, and we live as explorers who seek the sources from which our beauty emerges.
Comment by Bob Werme on October 20, 2012 at 4:47am Found a library copy of Physics. Half.com has copies but they're surprisingly expensive in new or very good condition. Goin' with the library!
I'm in CT, and I have a good friend (the Rev. Carl Reynolds) who has recently been called to a church in the state and who is introducing some CS ideas into his services. We attended "Rituals of Our Lives" in Ashville, NC (more than a decade ago) which turned him on to the CS "spirit". We actually designed a service when we returned, and presented it as the worship at a denominational event. Very well received ... but ... haven't seen any fruit from that seed. Since then, we tried to hook up with some MA folks ... again will nothing taking root. Carl was on the board of CSC for a while, but came away a little jaded...I don't think he was prepared for involvement at that level. I think we're both hungry for CS community and local connection, and trying in our own ways to develop the local context. Cirque is my attempt to turn up the soil again, and see if there's a genuinely non-denominational, non-ecclesial way to cultivate CS community here in the northeast.
Comment by Bob Werme on October 19, 2012 at 2:22am Cirque d'Esprit last night: "Your Life is a Work of Art!" Just two of us, so we held an informal conversation around some PowerPoint slides I created. Talk turned to "angels" (I'd revisited Sins of the Spirit, Blessings of the Flesh). Considering designing an evening devoted to angels, intuition and the sixth chakra. Also have introduced "The Artist's Creed" from Jan Philips' 1997 book Marry Your Muse: Making a Lasting Commitment to Your Creativity, which has stirred some hearts and souls. Looking for a copy of The Physics of Angels just because my rational minds is still battling with my profound sense that we had a mob of angels (apologies to Layne Redmond) with us last night!
Comment by Nicole Porcaro on October 13, 2012 at 5:02am Hi Bob, Your last weekend's ritual with Sobonfu sounds really rich and wonderful! And the tcm at Omega in '96 was one of the very first ones - super cool! There were a couple of recent grads from the telecourse on the east coast, but not specifically in MA. As more trainings are offered I intend to keep better track of the graduates locations so that we can build more resources for collaboration as well as knowing where in the world tcms or related CS services are being offered.
Blessings, Nicole
Comment by Bob Werme on October 10, 2012 at 9:21am That Omega event was in 1996 ... phew ... I must have done something phenomenal in 2006, too! :)
Comment by Bob Werme on October 10, 2012 at 6:38am Robin and I joined Sobonfu Some and 15 others in Gloucester, MA over this past weekend for an experience of "Relationship Ritual". Still processing ... but one of the "take-aways" was the reminder that sacred space can be shaped almost immediately, while sacred time is a bit more challenging. I remember the CM I experienced in 2006 at Omega was the culmination of 5 days of communal learning and practice by a couple hundred folks. It was breath-taking, of course. My time-think for a CM in CT has been really tough to shape, which is why I haven't pushed that part. I'd love to know if there are CS souls in our area who I might convene to share in this, but so far haven't figured out how to connect with them. Any thoughts ... anyone?
Comment by Nicole Porcaro on October 10, 2012 at 6:21am Hi Bob,
Cirque d'Esprit sounds great!!! I hope that you can take the next Cosmic Mass Certificate Intensive Telecourse in the Spring!(dates tba) And that the course could assist you in taking your sincere efforts to the next level of you, Robin and your core group sharing a mass with your community, especially on a small, do-able scale. It's one of my main goals with the course to empower folks to take the tcm into their communities and make it accessible and do-able for their location and resources. Everything starts as a dream!
Many Blessings, Nicole
Comment by Bob Werme on October 2, 2012 at 12:10pm Update on "Cirque d'Esprit". I've been traveling to Torrington every Wednesday since my last post, and gathering the few folks who come for smudge, dance (sometimes), meditation, music, sharing and a closing prayer. They have a computer projector and I'm using a PowerPoint presentation to introduce CS paths. Best attendance has been 5. We take a collection (feels a little awkward, but we do it anyway). I've shared with the regulars my dream of collaborating among local congregations to hold a Cosmic Mass at some site in the city. I think that's some distance away ... but still the dream.
Comment by Bob Werme on July 18, 2012 at 9:42am Thanks, Susan. Tomorrow we're exploring "Healing Souls, Mending Hearts". Just what IS "healing"? Have you experienced "healing"? What's the relationship between spirituality and healing? Lots of good music ... prayer ... circle ... can't wait!
