About Ecofaith...
Come gather for contemplation, prayer and sharing under the shade of trees, by a flowing brook in Bellingen Park, Bellingen. Since we start at 11, you can get to the beach or forest in the morning, and hang around for lunch afterwards if you like.
Gathering outside is not simply a novelty, but intended to help us make the connections between the Creation, or environment, or "ecos" and our faith, through prayer and contemplation. Hence eco-faith.
As I see it, so far we have been a gathering of 20-40 mostly local people of all ages. With a variety of approaches to faith or spirituality, we are being invited to engage with the core of Jesus' gospel: God is here, amongst us, do something about it. We remember that "us" doesn't just mean humans, but God is in all things, and all things are in God.
So "Jesus as God" Christians, "Jesus as finger pointing to God" Christians, and anyone else who sees a link between God and the ecos is welcome to this initiative of the Uniting Church mid north coast ecoministry.
----------------------------------
We humans are invited to gather as part of life, not the centre of it. To commune with each other, and the ancient God of this evolving life: personal but not human; as much female as male.
God who is:
---- * beyond us and our imaginations and definitions
---- * yet is one with us, perhaps even having become one of us, as many Christians believe
---- * within us and all of life,
---- * amongst us as we gather.
